Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will make a statement concerning his Department's review of the Data Protection Act; and whether he can outline any timetable for reporting, legislative changes, or subsequent White Papers.

Mr. Renton

The interdepartmental review committee will report to Ministers as soon as posible but no specific timetable has been set. We shall consider in due course what further action may be necessary in the light of the review committee's recommendations.
