Mr. Blunkett

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what has been the aggregate Exchequer grant paid to all local authorities in Wales in each financial year since 1978–79(a) in cash terms and (b) at 1988–89 prices.

The information requested is given in the following table for all years from 1981–82 to 1988–89. It is not possible to provide figures on a comparable basis for years prior to the introduction of block grant in 1981–82.
