HC Deb 14 February 1989 vol 147 c109W
Mr. Barry Field

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will be revising his assessment of the merchant fleet tonnage emergency requirements, in the light of the further loss of North sea output from the Fulmar Auk and Clyde oilfields in December 1988.

Mr. Peter Morrison

I have been asked to reply.

No. The temporary loss of North sea output in peacetime would not affect the merchant tonnage needed to service the North sea in wartime.
