To ask the Secretary of State for Health what research has been conducted into a possible link between sea water pollution and cases of meningitis.

I am not aware of any such research. The research projects into meningitis supported by the Medical Research Council were listed in the reply given on 21 December by my hon. Friend the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Education and Science at column292.
