To ask the Secretary of State for Employment whether he will make a statement on the future of the Construction Industry Training Board.

Mr. Nicholls

The White Paper "Employment for the 1990s" set out the Government's view that independent and voluntary arrangements are more likely to be effective than those imposed by statute. We are now consulting the construction industry training board and organisations representing employers in the construction industry about future arrangements for the industry.
