To ask the Secretary of State for Transport whether he has now completed his consideration of the proposed British Rail line known as TALIS; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Portillo

This is not a matter for me, but I understand that British Rail will be considering this alternative before reaching a decision on its preferred route between London and the Channel tunnel.
