To ask the Secretary of State for Transport when he intends to give gateway status to Glasgow airport.

My right hon. Friend is considering a request from BAA plc, as owners of Prestwick and Glasgow airports, for a review of the 1986 traffic distribution rules for Scotland, which restrict intercontinental traffic to Prestwick. He will make an announcement in due course.
