HC Deb 13 February 1989 vol 147 c54W
Mr. Sean Hughes

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what was the annual expenditure on clearing(a) the Okehampton range and (b) all Army firing ranges of ammunition after firing practice in each year since 1980.

Mr. Neubert

The clearance of ammunition from ranges is the responsibility of the units using the facilities together with the range commandant, who has overall responsibility for range safety. When necessary an explosive ordnance disposal unit will be called in to deal with specific items of live ammunition. Costs specific to range clearance are not separately recorded.
