The purchasing power of farming income (which is pre-tax) may be derived by deflating the series by the retail price index. The values of this (1985 = 100) for each year are 1982—85.8; 1983—89.7; 1984—94.3; 1985—100 and 1986—103.4. Separate price indices do not exist for each region.
