HC Deb 13 February 1989 vol 147 c14W
Mr. Cousins

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what number of adjudication officers were in post at the end of each reporting year since 1983; and what proportion of such officers had over 12 months' experience of adjudication work.

Mr. Lee

Three annual reports of the chief adjudication officer have been published, covering the years 1984–85, 1985–86 and 1986–87. The information given in these reports is as follows:

Year Adjudication officers in post
1984–85 334
1985–86 345
1986–87 505

I refer the hon. Member to the answer given to him on 26 January 1988 at column 159, showing 524 adjudication officers in post at that time.

Information about the levels of experience amongst adjudication officers is not routinely collected.
