To ask the Attorney-General if the Lord Chancellor will take steps to bring into the public domain all documents bearing on the captivity and death of Rudolf Hess.

No. Any United Kingdom public records relating to Rudolf Hess that are more than 30 years old have either been made available in the Public Record Office, or are withheld from access under the provisions of the Public Records Act 1958 in accordance with the established criteria set out in paragraphs 24 to 31 of the White Paper "Modern Public Records", Cmnd. 8531, March 1982. Access to records less than 30 years old which have not yet been transferred to the Public Record Office is the responsibility of individual Departments.
