§ Mr. Donald ThompsonThe production and processing of cows milk is already subject to strict controls, and new tests were introduced on 1 January 1989. As a result, the United Kingdom has been granted step 2 status under the heat treated milk directive and this means that we can apply the same high standards to imported milk. I set out the position on goats milk in the reply I gave to the hon. Member for Birmingham, Perry Bar (Mr. Rooker) on 8 February.
