HC Deb 09 February 1989 vol 146 cc803-4W
Mr. Martlew

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many patients living in East Cumbria health district attend Newcastle hospital for renal dialysis treatment.

Mr. Freeman

The information requested is not held centrally. The hon. Member may however wish to write to the chairman of Newcastle health authority for the information.

Mr. Martlew

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what plans there are for East Cumbria health district patients needing hospital renal dialysis to receive this treatment in East Cumbria.

Mr. Freeman

The Northern regional health authority has approved in principle the provision of renal services at Cumberland infirmary, Carlisle. The scheme is one of a number competing for funding within the health authority's development programme.
