To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many prisoners are currently being held in police cells; and which police stations are holding the prisoners outside the Metropolitan police area for the latest date available.

At unlocking on Tuesday 7 February, 272 prisoners were held in police cells in England and Wales. Of these, 80 were held at the following police stations outside the Metropolitan police area:

    • Chelmsford

    • Clacton
    • Grays
    • Southend
  • Hertfordshire
    • Welwyn Garden City
    • Letchworth
  • Kent
    • Ashford
    • Canterbury
    • Margate
    • Rochester
  • Merseyside
    • Liverpool (Main Bridewell)
  • Surrey
    • Guildford
  • Sussex
    • Horsham
