HL Deb 07 February 1989 vol 503 c1548WA
Lord Harris of Greenwich

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many persons have been arrested and convicted of public order and other offences within the grounds of each football club in the fourth division of the Football League in the current season, and in the two previous seasons.

The Minister of State, Home Office (Earl Ferrers)

The Association of Chief Police Officers collates the number of arrests at Football League matches each season in England and Wales. These figures do not distinguish between arrests made inside grounds and arrests directly connected with those matches made outside the grounds. Nor do they show the outcome of arrests. The available information for the two previous seasons is given in the table below. The provisional total of arrests at Division Four matches in the current season to 31st October, not broken down club by club as they have not been given a full end of season check, is 248.
