§ Mr. NorrisTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department on how many occasions searches of premises have been authorised by a superintendent of police under the provisions of paragraph 4(4) of schedule 3 to the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act 1984, and the similar provisions in the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act 1974 and 1976.
§ Mr. Douglas HoggSearches have been authorised under these provisions on nine occasions in England and Wales. I understand from my right hon. Friends the Secretaries of State that such searches have been authorised on five occasions in Scotland and on no occasion in Northern Ireland.
§ Mr. NorrisTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has received a report from the Viscount Colville of Culross QC on the operation in 1988 of the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions Act) 1984.
