§ Mr. ColvinTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what evidence there is as to whether deer carry Aujeszky's disease.
§ Mr. Donald ThompsonAujeszky's disease affects primarily pigs and rodents but occurs incidentally in most other species. Man, however, is not considered to be susceptible to infection. In deer the disease, if it occurs, results in death soon after infection with no significant transmission to other animals. Aujeszky's disease has been recorded in deer in other countries but available evidence suggests that its occurrence is rare in this species.
