§ Mr. Donald ThompsonFollowing discussion with the industry, I have decided to make use of the powers provided by the Dairy Produce Quotas (Amendment) Regulations 1989. Quota transfers notified after 21 April, even if they are notified as having occurred in the previous quota year, will not affect the calculation of supplementary levy liability until the start of the new quota year on 1 April.
I hope that this will encourage producers to notify transfers of quota in good time, which should in turn facilitate the smooth running of the quota system.
