HC Deb 03 February 1989 vol 146 cc422-3W
Mr. Vaz

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) if he will make it his policy under a DNA testing scheme to permit the test to be taken by individuals over 18 years who applied for entry as dependants under the age of 18 years and were turned down;

(2) if he will list the countries of origin of dependants who may apply to join relatives already settled in the United Kingdom to whom the DNA testing scheme, if approved, will apply.

Mr. Renton

[holding answer 31 January 1989]My right hon. Friend announced on 26 July 1988 that we were considering whether DNA testing should continue to be left to private initiative or organised on a centrally run scheme. We will announce our conclusions on these matters as soon as possible.
