HC Deb 02 February 1989 vol 146 c399W
Mr. Wray

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what incentive allowances exist for teachers in Scotland.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

[holding answer 30 January 1989]Teachers in Scotland do not receive incentive allowances; these are paid to certain teachers in schools in England and Wales. The average salary of teachers in Scotland is higher than that of England and Wales—£14,250 against £13,600 based on current pay scales.
