To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he proposes to increase the current manning levels in the South Yorkshire police.

My right hon. Friend announced on 30 January, column6, that he had approved an increase of 16 police posts for South Yorkshire and that he was prepared to approve a further 11 posts for stage II probationer training if the police authority made formal application for them.
