To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what are the receipts to date under the Carriers Liability Act; and what are the arrears.

Mr. Renton

Charges totalling £7.366 million had been incurred by carriers under the Act up to 31 December 1988. Of this sum, £3.539 million had been paid, leaving £3.827 million outstanding.
