How many hours a young person of under 16 may work in any week.

Young persons under the age of 16 may work a maximum of 44 hours a week in factories under the Factories Act 1961; in shops under the Shops Act 1950; and in the employments listed in Section 7 of the Young Persons (Employment) Act 1938, which include collection and delivery of goods, carrying messages and running errands in connection with certain businesses such as newsagents, places of public entertainment and public baths, lift operation and receiving or despatching goods in laundries and dyeing or cleaning works. They may work a maximum of 48 hours a week in mines and quarries under the Mines and Quarries Act 1954. In the sectors of employment not regulated by these enactments young persons under 16 are treated as adults.
