§ Mr. SteelTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will make a statement on the application by the Scottish Council for Single Parents for renewal of funding for its training unit under section 9 of the Social Work (Scotland) Act 1988; and whether he will make it his policy to take into account the work already being done by this and similar organisations on the reliance of single parents on social security.
§ Mr. RifkindDecisions on the large number of applications received for funding under section 9 of the Social Work (Scotland) Act 1968 will be announced shortly. The contribution made by applicant organisations in their respective areas of social work provision is one of a number of factors taken into account in reaching a decision on funding.
