HL Deb 20 December 1989 vol 514 c332WA
Lord Hatch of Lusby

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What preparations have already been initiated for building the Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Station.

Viscount Ullswater

This is a matter for the CEGB. I have therefore asked the chairman to reply direct to the noble Lord.

Lord Hatch of Lusby

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is the cost of continuing the inquiry over Hinkley Point C; and whether they will pay the costs of the objectors.

Viscount Ullswater

The inquiry is not continuing. The inspector closed it on Friday 1st December and is now preparing his report.

The Government see no reason why objectors should be financed from the public funds, as they appear at inquiries to defend their own interest.
