§ Mr. MichaelTo ask the Secretary of State for Employment what submissions he has made to the European Commission, whether via normal interdepartmental channels or directly to the European Commission, to seek continuation of the present level of funding plus allowance for inflation for women's employment and workshop schemes; and what response has been received.
§ Mr. EggarThe level of funding for these programmes will depend on the Commission's European social fund allocation to the United Kingdom and the priorities of its 67W Community support framework for objectives 3 and 4 of the funds. The Commission has announced annual allocations for the United Kingdom for 1990–1992 some 19 per cent. lower than in 1989, and has yet to agree its Community support framework. When it does my Department will seek equitable allocations for all United Kingdom programmes according to the needs of our labour market.
