HC Deb 18 December 1989 vol 164 cc2-3W
Mr. Harry Greenway

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how long the present work on the central reservation of the A40 in the London borough of Ealing has taken; what it is costing; when it is expected to end; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Atkins

These works are part of a rolling programme to provide central reserve safety fencing and pedestrian guard railing on the A40 Western avenue in the London borough of Ealing.

The current phase of these works began in mid-September and is expected to be completed by mid-January 1990. The total cost of these works is approximately £960,000.

Further works will be required in the coming months. I will write to my hon. Friend when the contractual arrangements have been finalised.
