HC Deb 14 December 1989 vol 163 c770W
Mr. Devlin

To ask the Prime Minister whether the subject of Angolan unity came up in her recent conversations with President Bush; and if she will make a statement.

The Prime Minister

I did not discuss Angolan unity with President Bush. The Government have consistently stressed the need for a political settlement in Angola. We support President Mobutu's work as mediator and trust that this will lead to an early end to the fighting and to negotiations without pre-conditions between the MPLA Government of Angola and UNITA.
