§ Mr. Heathcoat-AmoryThe Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 introduced for the first time in Great Britain comprehensive statutory protection for endangered wild species and their habitats. Protection is given to many species of wild animals and plants and to all birds; the lists of animals and plants are reviewed every five years.
