HL Deb 13 December 1989 vol 513 c1387WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How long they expect it to be before the United Kingdom has accepted for resettlement its full quota of 2,000 Vietnamese refugees, now in Hong Kong, as agreed at the 1989 Geneva Conference.

Viscount Ullswater

The conference agreed that the refugee population in South-East Asia should be resettled over a three-year period. Our intention is to fulfil the United Kingdom's commitment by June 1992.
