§ Mr. Alan ClarkThe Ministry of Defence does not hold detailed information in the form requested, but a rough estimate of employment in Scotland related to nuclear defence is some 9,000 including Rosyth dockyard, Coulport, Faslane and the Clyde.
§ Mr. Michael BrownTo ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list the number of defence bases in 685W Scotland, their location and the number of Scottish jobs at each base broken down into (a) armed forces and (b) MOD personnel.
§ Mr. Archie HamiltonThe MOD's principal nuclear defence base in Scotland is the Clyde submarine base at Faslane. Other establishments providing support to the strategic deterrent programme are the royal navy armament depot at Coulport, Her Majesty's naval base at Rosyth and the naval reactor test establishment at Dounreay (HMS Vulcan). The figures for the number of personnel at present are as follows:
