To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what reduction in the excise duties on beers, wines and spirits would be required to achieve reductions of 0.5 per cent., 0.75 per cent. and 1.0 per cent., respectively, in the retail price index.

It it estimated that the required, across the board, reductions in excise duties on beer, wines and spirits would be as follows:
