§ Mr. David PorterTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport if, pursuant to his answer to the hon. Member for Ipswich (Mr. Irvine),Official Report, column 4, of 4 December 1989, he will make a statement on how much of the investment in British Rail over the next three years will be spent on the East Suffolk line from Lowestoft to Ipswich and the Wherry line from Lowestoft to Norwich.
§ Mr. PortilloIt is for British Rail to decide the detailed allocation of resources. I understand that British Rail plans to invest at least £1 million in infrastructure on these routes over the next three years. The region will also benefit from wider programmes of investment in new rolling stock.
