HC Deb 04 December 1989 vol 163 c88W
30. Mr. Simon Hughes

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how much Government money is allocated to improving safety on British Rail.

Mr. Parkinson

British Rail's corporate plan includes some £125 million for additional safety expenditure over the next three years, which has been reflected in public expenditure provision. This expenditure will be supported by PSO grant where it falls to the subsidised sectors, Network SouthEast and provincial. British Rail is assessing the need for further expenditure following Sir Anthony Hidden's report on the Clapham junction accident.
