HC Deb 04 December 1989 vol 163 c75W
Mr. Ron Davies

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what investigations he has conducted into the illegal poisoning of birds on Islay; and if he will take steps to draw the attention of estate owners where poisoning has occured to the requirements of the law.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

Scottish Office officials have engaged in scientific analysis and field investigations of poisoning incidents and co-operate with the police in their inquiries with a view to possible prosecution if sufficient evidence can be obtained.

It is the policy of the Scottish Office that estate owners and others with an interest in the land should in every case be made aware of incidents which have occurred on their property and of the requirements of the law.
