To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he has any plans to increase the level of Government funding for research and development in fish farming.

Mr. Donald Thompson

The Government spent some £3.2 million on research and development in relation to fish farming in 1988–89 and plan for a similar level of expenditure in this financial year.
