Mr. ShersbyTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport what report he has received from his inspector into the cause of the derailment of the 10.36 am train from Waterloo to Southampton on Thursday 6 April; what steps have been taken to prevent a recurrence of this accident; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. PortilloI understand that British Rail's internal inquiry into this derailment has taken place. Once I have received a copy of the inquiry report, I shall decide, upon the advice of the railway inspectorate, whether any action is required.
