To ask the Minister for the Civil Service what are the implications for him as the Minister for the Civil Service of the publication of the scrutiny report entitled "Government Economic Statistics".

This is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer. However, I welcome any initiative that increases the efficiency of the Civil Service, and I am pleased that the Central Statistical Office is to be established as an executive agency.
