§ Mr. Michael ForsythGuidance on services for the elderly and the elderly with dementia was set out in the SHARPEN (Scottish health authorities' review of priorities for the eighties and nineties) report, which was published, and commended to health boards, in November 1988. The report contained guidance about bed provision; it also stressed the need for a range of facilities, and for appropriate placement.
