To ask the Secretary of State for Energy if he will assess the likely implications for the transmission by Channel 4 of public service broadcasts emanating from his Department of the White Paper, "Broadcasting in the 90s: Competition, Choice and Quality".

Mr. Parkinson

There is no reason to suppose that the proposals in the White Paper will alter the present arrangements whereby public service messages are broadcast by Channel 4. The arrangements for paid Government advertising on television will not be affected by the proposals.
