HC Deb 21 April 1989 vol 151 c347W
Mr. Allen

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he has any plans to change the system of reporting and recording of industrial injuries; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Nicholls

The Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1985 came into force on 1 April 1986. They changed and augmented the previous reporting requirements, in particular by extending definition of major injuries and introducing an obligation to report injuries resulting from accidents at work which cause incapacity for more than three days. Although there are no immediate plans for any further change to the reporting and recording system, the operation of the new regulations is being kept under close scrutiny.
