§ Mr. Allan StewartTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will announce the names of the preparatory schools to be included in the assisted places scheme in the 1989–90 session and the amount of fee remission grant to be allocated to them.
§ Mr. Michael ForsythI have decided to admit 16 preparatory schools to the scheme in the 1989–90 school session and details including the fee remission grant are shown in the table. The inclusion of these schools in the scheme widens significantly the type of school available to less well-off families who could not have previously contemplated sending their children to such schools.
