HC Deb 19 April 1989 vol 151 cc183-4W
50. Mr. Livingstone

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster in which position Britain lies in an Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development league table for manufacturing productivity.

Mr. Maude

No reliable comparisons exist for absolute levels of manufacturing productivity between different countries. But available figures do show that in the eighties the United Kingdom has had the fastest rate of growth of manufacturing productivity of all the major industrialised countries.
