To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what plans he has to further develop the Scottish Community Education Council.

In January 1989, we approved the council's corporate plan setting out its major priorities for the next three years as adult basic education; work with young people; adult and continuing education; and training for community education providers. It is open to the Council to propose changes to its priorities. Further development will depend to a large extent on the council's ability to generate income from its activities.
