HC Deb 17 April 1989 vol 151 cc3-4W
Mr. Alfred Morris

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if there have been any recent developments in regard to new routes from the United States to Manchester airport; if he expects any further developments in the near future; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

The Government have continued to press the United States authorities to agree a reasonable exchange of rights to enable new routes to be established between the United States and Manchester airport. The United States has been considering an offer we made earlier in the year and has recently promised revised and comprehensive counter-proposals.
