§ Mr. NichollsEveryone concerned with work—employees and trades unions as well as employers—has a role to play in ensuring high standards of health and safety. Union-appointed safety representatives have an important contribution to make. I welcome the efforts of the TUC to encourage safety representatives to be more active in carrying out their statutory functions.
