To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what are the latest figures on distribution for his Department's budget for research and development in Yorkshire.

Mr. Atkins

In 1988–89 my Department's spending on eligible research and development projects in the Yorkshire and Humberside region amounted to £3.75 million. This figure does not include some elements of expenditure which it was not possible to break down on the basis required.
