(2) if he will estimate the number of people who will benefit from the extension of the higher age allowance to those aged 75 and over in (a) the Brighton travel-to-work area, (b) the parliamentary constituency of Brighton, Kemptown and (c) the parliamentary constituency of Brighton, Pavilion.
§ Mr. Norman LamontIt is estimated that in 1989–90 about 400,000 single people and married couples, will benefit from the proposed extension of the higher level of age allowance to those aged 75 and over. Estimates are based on a projection of the 1986–87 survey of personal incomes and are provisional. I regret that corresponding information for Brighton and the surrounding area is not available.
