§ Mr. RyderCommissions by my Department with the Agricultural and Food Research Council will be reduced by £1.6 million in 1989–90, as part of the £5 million reduction in Government funding which has been 439W announced for that year. Decisions on the future programme of commissioned work will depend on the consultations we are currently holding with industry organisations. The implications of changes in funding for the staff and research establishments of the Agricultural and Food Research Council are matters for that organisation.
