§ Mr. GristNo categoric answer can be given. Provisional results from a Welsh water authority pilot survey of 37 lakes in Gwynedd located in class I and II catchments (that is, vulnerable to acidification) show that between 8 and 21 per cent. are thought to have suffered fishery decline which could be acid water related.
